Parks and Vacant Land Committee members are residents of the Town of Shelby. These volunteers are appointed by the Town Board to serve the residents of Shelby.
The Committee oversees the best possible usage for our green spaces. These spaces include playgrounds, parks, trails, and walking paths as well as vacant lands. Committee members will discuss and weigh in on future goals, projects and overall vision for our outdoor recreational opportunities. Establishing a Comprehensive Parks Plan and making recommendation to the Town Board are part of their ongoing duties.
Committee members possess the ability to see the big picture and the long term effects of the recommendation they make. They will use sound judgement by weighing the pros and cons of each issue. They will be open to new ideas and possess an attitude of cooperation, open-mindedness and objectivity. They will also listen to the needs/wished of th residents of the Town of Shelby. They will be motivated by their desire to serve the citizens of Shelby rather than foster a personal agenda or pet project.
Park and Vacant Land Committee Meetings are generally held on the 1st Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Town Hall Board Room, 2800 Ward Avenue. The site is handicap accessible. Meeting dates and times are subject to change.
